In any case, I thought I'd share a picture of the new glasses. I know these glasses look a lot like the old ones. But they really are different. :)
I thought I'd share another juicy tidbit out of my life, being that I have new glasses!! A while back, I went to the eye doctor who said the situation with my eyes has not yet stabilised. but it's the question whether my brains actually still have this capacity- to make one image out of two. So we practice this with glasses. She gave these stickers to put on the glasses, stickers that are just about as strong as it can get. I looked for new glasses, settled on a pair which looks a lot like the old one, put the stickers on them. And I still see two images. But not as bad as without glasses! I wonder how long this practice thing will last...

'Voor wat hoort wat'
I thought of this lovely Dutch quote this morning. Literally it means something like 'For something, something is required'. But for those who (unfortunately) don't speak the wonderful language of Dutch nor have a clue what this literal meaning wants to say, the saying is basically used for the idea that nothing is ever totally for free. Everything always demands something in return. I was thinking this morning, how in our relationship with God we also often have these kind of thoughts. I do my part, He does His. I do "holy stuff" (pray and church and Bible and such) and mind my own business and He keeps me safe and sound. And protected from hemorrhages. And then He doesn't...! So how does that work? Well let me just say here, that I find the above saying simply doesn't go for (healthy) relationships in general, which includes my relationship with God. He gives without strings attached. Which leads me to give back to Him with no strings attached. No strings, that is, except that I long for His constant nearness. And that nearness is something I have experienced in the last two years. very much so. oh and ps. thanks all who wrote those encouraging remarks :) very nice :) |
Mattanja OosterhuisHaving grown up in diverse places on earth, I suppose I've learned to make the best of what comes my way. Such as a hemorrhage. After this bleeding in my head occurred in dec. 2010, my life has come to look different. On my blog I write about some of this. Archives
