In the library in Ivory Coast, where I went to school for quite a few years, there were these little books in which you constantly had to make choices. You would read an exciting adventure and then -bang- came the choice: would you go for a cup of coffee (leading to page 63) or a cup of tea (leading to page 85)? The choice you made would bring new, exciting adventures which might or might not end well. If you chose the cup of coffee and page 63, you would meet a dragon which you would slay. If you went for the cup of tea and page 85, you would meet a lion and be slain. So there was quite a lot of stress placed on the importance of choosing a cup of tea or a cup of coffee. It was pretty much a matter of life and death. Fortunately in life, choices don't really work in this way. Fortunately I'm learning this. Fortunately God leads, whether I go for cups of coffee or cups of tea. He protects when I come across danger for which I'm not ready. He leads to the right places to learn the necessary stuff at the right moment. And He is able to do this in roundabout ways. Such as via a hemorrhage.
This last week I was thinking through some of my issues with choices. If you have seen me recently, you know this is a problem with me. I have had this idea in the past that I had to make the perfect choice. Unfortunately I had no way of knowing exactly which choice was perfect, and if this perfect choice even existed.
